Northern Iron & Machine is proactively working with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to resolve air permitting issues at our St. Paul, Minnesota location.
Some steps we have taken include:
· Submitted and complying with a plan to ensure initial and annual hood certifications are completed on time.
· Operating air quality control equipment according to current permit requirements, our updated operation and maintenance plans, and manufacturer specifications.
· Submitted a complete major permit amendment to incorporate changes made prior to new ownership.
· We track and submit daily operating hours for furnace melting, metal casting, and metal finishing operations. We also track production throughput for the furnace melting and metal casting operations.
The air permit issue in question was initially identified under the previous ownership. Northern Iron & Machine has been actively working to resolve this issue since it was purchased by new owners in 2022. Northern Iron & Machine is committed to resolving this issue with MPCA, operating in compliance with environmental laws, and being a good neighbor.
